Refund Policy

Last updated: 14 July 2026

Every MagicBooks story is written and painted to order for one child. So that you always know exactly what you're buying, we give you a free cover preview before you pay. Because each book is personalized and delivered instantly, purchases are final except in the specific cases set out below.

1. Merchant of Record

Purchases on MagicBooks are sold through our reseller and Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy processes your payment and, where a refund is approved under this policy, issues it back to your original payment method. This policy sets out when a refund is available.

2. Personalized books are made to order

Custom books (Simple and Exclusive) are created individually from the details you enter — the hero's name, look, world, plot and title — and are generated and delivered the moment you order. For that reason they are non-refundable once the book has been generated, and all sales are final, except where this policy or the law says otherwise.

Before you pay, you can create and view a free cover preview with your hero. Please use it — it is there so you can confirm the look and the details before purchasing.

By completing your purchase you expressly request that we begin creating and delivering your personalized book immediately, and you acknowledge that you therefore lose any statutory right of withdrawal or "cooling-off" period that would otherwise apply to personalized goods and to digital content supplied immediately with your consent (including under EU Directive 2011/83/EU and equivalent UK and other consumer laws).

3. What is not eligible for a refund

To keep our prices low and our service honest, we do not offer refunds for:

  • a change of mind after the book has been generated;
  • a personal preference about the art or story (style, colours, wording or interpretation), where the book matches the options you chose and the product as described;
  • mistakes in the details you entered (the spelling of a name, the wrong age, the wrong choices) — the free preview and your on-screen selections are there to check these before payment;
  • not having used the free cover preview, or not having read the product description before buying;
  • the book being "not what you expected" where it matches what was clearly described and selected.

4. When we will make it right

We stand fully behind the quality of our work. Contact us and we will fix — or, if we genuinely cannot, refund — an order in these cases:

  • You never received your book (no download link or email) and we are unable to deliver it to you;
  • your file is corrupted, unreadable, missing pages or in the wrong order;
  • you were charged twice, or charged in error for an order you did not place;
  • a genuine, verifiable error on our side — for example the wrong details were used even though you entered them correctly.

Our first remedy is always to correct and re-deliver your book at no charge. Where a defect truly cannot be resolved, we refund that order.

5. Library (ready-made) books

Digital library books are delivered instantly and are final once delivered, except where the file is faulty or the wrong item was delivered — in which case we will re-deliver the correct file or refund it.

6. Subscriptions

  • You can cancel anytime; cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Once new content for the current period has been delivered, that period is non-refundable. If you were charged in error or never received your books, we will refund or credit you.
  • If you cancel, you keep the books already delivered to you.

7. Print editions

Printed books are produced individually. If your print arrives damaged, defective or misprinted, send us a photo within 14 days of delivery and we will arrange a reprint or refund. We cannot refund print orders for a change of mind once production has begun, or for errors in the details you supplied.

8. Chargebacks

If something is wrong, please contact us first — we resolve almost every issue quickly. Because every order is logged with a delivery record, we may provide that evidence to Lemon Squeezy to dispute chargebacks that are not justified under this policy. Filing a chargeback instead of contacting us, or a chargeback we determine to be abusive or fraudulent, may result in the loss of access to your books and to the Service.

9. How to request a refund

Email refund@magicbooks.art with your order number and a short description of the problem (a screenshot or photo helps). We aim to respond within 2–3 business days. Approved refunds are processed by Lemon Squeezy to your original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.

10. Your statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable rights you may have under the consumer-protection laws of your country. Where the law grants you a stronger, non-excludable remedy than this policy, that law applies. The waiver in section 2 applies only to the extent those laws permit.

Something not right with your book? Please write to refund@magicbooks.art before opening a dispute — we'll do our very best to turn it around. ✦
